Will the site be down during the upgrade?

The site will not be down at all.  We build your website in a subfolder so you can review and approve before we replace the current site.

If something goes wrong, can you restore the old site?

We always backup the existing website first.  Also, we will build the new site in a subfolder so you can review prior to going live.  Once you approve, we make the new site live and then re-back it up.  For an additional cost, we will mail you a memory stick with an archive of the old site and backup of new site.

How do I find out what version of Joomla I am on now?

The easiest way is to go to the administrator side of your website which is your site address and then /administrator (example  Match what you see to the picture below:

How long will the upgrade take?

We can complete your upgrade in a week, however, we normally have several projects in our queue.  The average turnaround time is 3-4 weeks but we can complete it quicker with a rush charge.

What if my current site is hacked?

Not a problem.  We build a fresh install of Joomla so you will not have problems with your new site.  For us to migrate over your content, we need access to any of these things: the old site, your hosting account, or an archived backup of the old site.

Should I upgrade to Joomla 3.x?

YES.  Joomla now recommends that brand new sites be built on Joomla 3.x.  

The majority of the upgrades we are doing are directly to Joomla 3.x.  However, if your current templates and extensions are not available for Joomla 3.x, we will upgrade you to Joomla 2.5.  If you contact us for an estimate, we will let you know what we recommend.  

What Joomla Extensions do you Upgrade?

We have experience working with most established Joomla extensions.  If an extension does not have a Joomla 3.x version, we will install a similar extension and manually migrate your existing data into it.  Below is a quick list of extensions we work with the most often.  Items with an asterick (*) next to them are ones we often substitute:

Do I have to change hosting companies?

NO.  We build the new site on your existing hosting; we just need your logins.  Before starting the project, we will ensure your current hosting meets the minimum requirements needed for Joomla 3.x and let you know if there are any problems.

Will all the changes/instructions take place remotely?


The subfolder we build is on your own hosting account.

How do you charge for upgrades?

We charge a flat fee for the upgrade.  Our work order will spell out the exact features and extensions we will be upgrading on your site.  This cost includes our initial analysis of the site, cost of the template, any extension license fees, and moving the site from development to live on your site.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards by phone (Mastercard, VISA, Discover, AMEX) and PayPal (send to email

We do accept personal checks; however, your project will not be set into our project schedule till the check clears.

Will my new site work on all browsers?


Browsers are in the business of keeping up with the current trends in the market i.e smart phones and tablets, so your new site will not look or function the same on all browsers.  We utilize the Google's support standards for browsers; current and prior major release of Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari on a rolling basis. Each time a new version is released, we’ll begin supporting the update and stop supporting the third-oldest version."

Are Software/Extension License Fees Included?


Yes, they are included in the price of your estimate. That is one of the advantages of having a real web design company upgrade your site. We have developer licenses to all the major template clubs and extension websites.

Many times this means you are getting hundreds of dollars worth of templates/extensions for the cost of your upgrade.


Can I subcontract the upgrade to you for one of my clients?

Yes.  In fact, over 50% of our projects are for other web designers.  We will not contact your client directly and will put your logo/design credits at the bottom of the website.

What are your billing policies?


All invoices are due upon receipt.


Late Fees

After 30 days, the invoice is overdue. In the event Customer fails to make any of the payments set forth within the above time frame, a late charge will accrue at 8.0% per month.

After 60 days, the Developers have the right to remove the Web Site until payment in full is paid. In the event Customer fails to make any of the payments referenced in this contract by the deadlines set forth, Developers have the right, but are not obligated, to pursue any or all of the following remedies: (1) terminate the Agreement, (2) remove content from servers owned by Developers, (3) bring legal action.

Customer is responsible for all costs and expenses not related to the design and development services, such as hosting, domain name registration, advertising, and any other service that is not described or covered by this Agreement.


What does "as is" mean?


When we upgrade sites we take great care to match the existing site as much as possible.  However, we are not responsible for fixing existing typos, adjusting content, or fixing links/images that are currently broken on existing site.

Do you give a discount for multiple sites?

Yes, we do.  The amount of the discount depends on the number and complexity of the sites.  The first website will be at full price and the discount applied to the subsequent ones.
